Photography/Videographer Internship
This is a part-time paid position for 12 weeks (starting end of September). We’re looking for a passionate, creative and motivated individual to join our team for the fall. Gain valuable career and resume-building experience, make contacts with industry leaders in a wide variety of diverse fields (including media, publishing, and the outdoor field), and experience a unique mix of workplaces ranging from speaker events at major venues with hundreds of people to rugged outdoor hiking locations in Ontario. Students or recent graduates are preferred, but applications are welcome from any Ontario resident looking to build their career. Much of the event work is located in the Golden Horseshoe Area (Niagara/Norfolk/Haldimand/Hamilton/Kitchener-Waterloo/GTA etc.) so the ability to commute to these locations is essential.
Compensation and Work Schedule:
- $20 an hour
- 15 hours a week ($300 per week)
- 12 week contract ($3,600 total) Start date September 25 through December 20
- Must be able to work flexible hours, as most events are evenings or weekends.
Duties:
- Take high quality photos/video at speaking events and outdoor events.
- Assist with set-up at events/book sales/signings
- Film/Photograph Guided Nature Hikes in rugged outdoor locations
- Film Promotional Videos and Interviews in wilderness or outdoor locations.
- Edit videos/photographs
- Must be comfortable travelling around Ontario for events
Qualifications
- Excellent photography, video production (filming), and graphic design skills.
- Ability to professionally edit photographs and video and familiarity with editing software
- Ability to handle a variety of workplaces, ranging from theatres and event spaces with hundreds of people to remote outdoor locations that involve hiking to them
- Ability to perform basic hiking/outdoor and indoor photography and work with different light conditions
- Willingness to travel to a variety of locations around Ontario
- Graphic design skills are considered an additional asset
